The use of cards for insight and divination
dates back thousands of years. Tarot cards are most famous, with dozens of deck
designs used worldwide, though regular playing cards have been substituted and
have developed their own meanings. Now dozens of "oracle" cards
flood the metaphysical market and reach thousands with their messages. Not to be
confused with tarot cards, oracle cards have basically the same purpose, to
divine the future and give insight into a person or situation.
Fundamentalist Christians consider
all of these to be infringing on God's territory--knowledge of the future--and
many consider the use of cards to be evil. I personally do not do sensational,
"shocking" readings of any kind, only positive ones that are intended to aid in personal
growth. Oracle cards
touch the part of us that wants the security of knowing exactly what to expect
at any given time. However, most reputable readers do not venture into making
specific predictions as being absolute certainty, they simply describe conditions that are either favorable or
challenging to a person or situation. The future is mutable, and every
choice we make--and others as well, changes the possible outcome. So when
peering into the future here, realize that what you discover is not written in
stone, it is simply one possibility, based on your current situation and
emotions.
The cards I use are those that touch me
personally. The "Medicine Cards" and "Sacred Path Cards" call the Cherokee blood in
me."Healing with the Angels" shares messages from the angels
that have become so much a part of my life over the last decade. I also use the"
Crystal Ally" cards by Naisha Ahsian. And occasionally I'll use the
online decks at www.tarot.com and use the
information there as a foundation for a reading.
